Succulents

Succulent plants, also known as succulents, are plants that have some parts that are more than normally thickened and fleshy, usually to retain water in dry climates or soil conditions.

They may store water in various structures, such as leaves and stems.
Many plant families have multiple succulents found within them. The storage of water gives succulent plants a more swollen or fleshy appearance than other plants.

Water saving features of succulents are absent, reduced, or cylindrical-to-spherical leaves, stems as the main site of photosynthesis, compact, reduced, cushion-like, waxy, hairy, or spiny outer surface to create a humid micro-habitat around the plant, roots very near the surface of the soil, ability to remain plump and full of water even with high internal temperatures.

They work well in a low maintenance garden or in gardens that have dry areas. They are also often used inside homes with sunny windowsills as the best spot.
