Description
Pittosporum eugenioides is a NZ native shrub or tree commonly known as lemonwood or tarata. It can grow up to 12 m high but can easily be clipped to keep it smaller. This pittosporum has yellow-green leaves with curly edges and a strong lemon smell when crushed. In spring highly fragant clusters of yellow-cream flowers appear followed by black seed capsules.
Very hardy shrub or tree which thrives well in poor windy conditions. It is a bit frost tender when young.
Good to use as a hedge or in a mixed border. Recommended spacing for a hedge is 40-50 cm apart.
