Description
Cordyline australis or commonly known as cabbage tree is a New Zealand native tree. With ist unusual and palm-like appearance cabbage trees are a feature of the NZ landscape. It is fast growing with a stout trunk and sword-like leaves which are clustered at the tips of the branches. Large panicles of creamy, fragrant flowers appear in late spring and early summer followed by white berries, which is food for the native birds.
A very hardy tree and survives harsh conditions. Can be planted in groups or just plant it on its own to get a strong vertical element in your garden.
