Description
Phormium tenax ‘Purpurea’ is an evergreen clump forming plant native to New Zealand. The strap like purple leaves grow upright and can be up to two metres long. In spring even taller flowering shoots appear with dramatic yellow or red flowers. The flowers are loved by nectar eating birds. Phormium tenax ‘Purpurea’thrives in a wide range of sites including swampy and coastal. A great plant for erosion control.
