Description
Pittosporum crassifolium or Karo, is an evergreen NZ native  small tree or shrub with dense dark gray-green leathery leaves that are furry underneath. Clusters of small red-purple flowers appear in spring, developing into seed pods that split to expose the sticky seeds.  Pittosporum crassifolium is a very hardy plant and able to withstand high winds and salt spray.
Good to use as a hedge or in a mixed border. Recommended spacing for a hedge is 40-50 cm apart.
