Description

Tulbagia violacea, commonly known as society garlic, is a hardy, clump-forming perennial with narrow, grey-green leaves that emit a mild garlic scent when crushed. From late spring to autumn, it produces clusters of star-shaped, lilac to violet flowers held on slender stems above the foliage.

It typically grows to a height of 30–60 cm and spreads about 30–45 cm. Tulbagia violacea thrives in full sun to light shade and prefers well-drained soil. It is drought-tolerant once established and is ideal for borders, rock gardens, or container planting. The flowers also attract pollinators and can be used as edible garnishes.
